Each member of the Sifting Committee will take their ten chosen CVs to CCHQ this afternoon. With five members of the committee, this could equate to a maximum of fifty (if each member had selected ten different applicants). However, I understand that there are a number of applicants who have received multiple votes, so the final number being considered is just over 30.
The task this afternoon will be to reduce this number to a shortlist of up to 15 for interviews with the Executive Council on 26 October. Exciting times!
I have promised applicants that they will hear from us by phone or email by 8pm this evening, regardless of whether they have been successful or not. Chatting to candidates at Manchester, I was amazed and saddened to hear how many Associations simply fail to let unsuccessful applicants know they have not been chosen for interview, and to thank them for their interest. This is a common courtesy and basic manners should dictate better behaviour.
Once the candidates have been informed, the shortlist will be published on the Association's website and on here.
Best of luck to all applicants!
