This post should be of interest to all branch or Association Officers.
One of the West Kent Associations recently applied to NatWest bank for clarification over their "terms and conditions" for Clubs and Societies. The Treasurer noticed that there should be zero charges (apart from overdraft interest) on this type of account, but that the Association has been paying charges for the last 10 years.
After a protracted exchange the bank confirmed that it had been applying charges incorrectly and agreed to refund all charges levied for the past 10 years plus interest (the maximum they are obliged to do so). Today, thanks to the eagle-eyed Treasurer, £2,800 was refunded directly in that Association's account.
I have already noticed one other West Kent Association entitled to claim a refund (even charges of £17 pcm amounts to over £2,000 over a 10 year period).
Treasurers take note!
